Angrogna, San Lorenzo: The warlock dog

Hello!
Today I’m gonna tell you the ancient story of a prank gone bad…
We are in Angrogna (Pellice Valley), in the county town of San Lorenzo, where once a couple of good friends used to live.
One night one of them, coming back from the friend’s house, took the road that would pass (and still passes) in front of the Waldensian temple.

Right there he suddenly saw a large white dog standing in front of him!
The dog began to show its happiness, but the man, in the dark of the night, did not understand and, thinking that the animal wanted to attack him, without thinking twice pulled the gun from his jacket and fired a shot.
The dog was hit and fell to the ground, while the man fled quickly, happy to have himself saved!
The next day the man was informed that his dear friend was suddenly caught by an illness during the night and had almost died… When he understood that the time the friend had been sick was the same of his meeting with the dog, he realized that the dog was actually a warlock who might have wanted to make him a joke!

I climbed on the fence of the temple... Of course I would not want to meet the dog of the legend!

When the friend recovered, the man went to see him and in brotherly way he chewed him out for having made such a foolish joke. In response, the other one invited the friend to be a bit more cautious in using the gun, the next time…
…well, I guess the two guys remained friends for the rest of their lives!
