D\u2019you remember the first time we met in the summer of two years ago?<br \/>\nToday I will not take you around for any adventure, but I\u2019d like to talk to you a little bit about the valleys we\u2019ve been wandering through in these years\u2026 of course I\u2019m talking about the <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2015\/02\/13\/featured-who-are-the-waldensians\/\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Waldensian valleys<\/span><\/a>, which are Pellice Valley, Germanasca Valley and Chisone Valley, the three major valleys of the province of Turin in Western Piedmont.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1751\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1751\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1751\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/1.jpg\" alt=\"A map of the valleys (taken from AA.VV., Alpine civilization and Protestant presence in the valleys of Pinerolo, Priuli &amp; Verlucca, Ivrea 1991).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Southern valley is the Pellice Valley, where the Pellice river flows; once this valley was known as Luserna Valley, taking name from the counts of Lucerne, who were its owners.<br \/>\nThe village at the highest altitude is Bobbio Pellice, and coming down towards the plain we reach Villar Pellice and then Torre Pellice, called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2014\/08\/27\/torre-pellice-waldesian-quarter\/\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">the Waldensian capital<\/span><\/a>\u201d, since it\u2019s the cultural Waldensian center and that\u2019s the town where every year the Synod is hosted.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1752\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1752\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1752\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/2.jpg\" alt=\"onca del Pra at Bobbio Pellice, along the mule tracks leading from Pinerolo to France\" width=\"1000\" height=\"663\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/2.jpg 1299w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/2-604x400.jpg 604w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/2-768x509.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/2-825x547.jpg 825w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1752\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2014\/08\/29\/valley-of-pra-conca-del-pra-bobbio-pellice\/\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Conca del Pra<\/span><\/a> at Bobbio Pellice, along the mule tracks leading from Pinerolo to France<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Leaving the valley we reach the town of Luserna San Giovanni and two lateral valleys, where the rivers Angrogna (Angrogna Valley) and Luserna (Valley of Ror\u00e0) flow; The hamlets that are traditionally considered part of the Waldensian valleys are located on the right bank of the river Chisone (which gives its name to the valley) and, moving from Pinerolo, they are San Germano Chisone and Pramollo, in the valley of Risagliardo, formerly known as Cluson (ancient name of the Chisone) Valley.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1754\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1754\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1754 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/4-400x600.jpg\" alt=\"At Chaousenc, suburb of Pramollo, looking for fairies! I\u2019ll explain you also the name of this place&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Villages arising on the other side of the river were, in the past, part of the Dauphin of France, and this made them traditionally of Catholic influence; I\u2019m talking about the towns of Villar Perosa, Pinasca, Inverso Pinasca, Perosa Argentina, Pomaretto, Fenestrelle, Usseaux, Pragelato and Sestriere; in ancient times the valley was called Pragelato Valley.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1755\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1755\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1755 size-full\" #008000;\">Hannibal Bridge<\/span><\/a>, in the municipality of Pinasca.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Among the Chisone and Pellice Valleys there\u2019s the Germanasca Valley, which takes its name (like the other two valleys) from the river that flows through it, although it was once known as the San Martino Valley, named after a medieval place of worship dedicated to this saint.<\/p>\n<figure href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1756\" Diaou<\/span><\/a>&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Since 1600 Perrero became the center of the valley, merging together many municipalities, except for those that are in high mountain: from north to south, Massello, Salza di Pinerolo and Prali, as well as some other side valleys (Bovile in the north, Faetto and Riclaretto in the south).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1757\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1757\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" Prarostino, located also at the entrance of the Chisone Valley (which once used to include also the Waldensian township of <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2013\/12\/27\/the-roccapiatta-temple-prarostino\/\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Roccapiatta<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1758\"
