{"id":1991,"date":"2016-07-01T14:00:09","date_gmt":"2016-07-01T12:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/?p=1991"},"modified":"2016-06-30T14:29:30","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T12:29:30","slug":"napoleon-bridge-bobbio-pellice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2016\/07\/01\/napoleon-bridge-bobbio-pellice\/","title":{"rendered":"Napoleon Bridge &#8211; Bobbio Pellice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">Hello!<br \/>\nToday I went back to Bobbio Pellice (Torino) to take you to see a beautiful arch bridge, entirely built of stone, which has perfectly held out here for almost 400 years and which has a very outstanding name: welcome at Napoleon Bridge!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1985\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1985\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/napoleone_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1985 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/napoleone_1-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"napoleone_1\" width=\"604\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1985\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">On my left you can see the bridge with the road that takes to Malpertus (the hamlet of houses on the right).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">We are few steps far from <\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2015\/12\/04\/malpertus-bobbio-pellice-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">Malpertus<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">, a small village I already talked you about when I told you a legend set there time ago, but today history confuses me a little bit&#8230; At the entrance of the bridge, on a stone, the date of construction (1640) was engraved, but it dates back more than a hundred years before the birth of Napoleon, the famous French emperor\u2026 it is therefore not possible that he himself was the one who built the bridge!<br \/>\nMost likely, due to the extraordinary work done to build the bridge, it was decided to give this name to the bridge later on, in order to bestow the right importance to it&#8230; After all, the Napoleon Bridge was never damaged by any flood! (unlike other more recent bridges in other areas of Pellice Valley\u2026 ;(\u00a0 )<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1986\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1986\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/napoleone_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1986 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/napoleone_2-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"napoleone_2\" width=\"604\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1986\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is me on the bridge; below me you can see carved in the stone the names of those who built the bridge, the first was probably a guy named Paolo Buffa who signed as &#8220;Muradore&#8221; (bricklayer).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u2026<span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">think about it: it\u2019s not the first time we run into a great work built by men but which has an almost legendary origin hidden in its name: d\u2019you remember the <\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2015\/09\/11\/the-annibale-bridge-pinasca\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">Hannibal Bridge<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"> of Pinasca?<br \/>\nOr some irrigation drains so well made that they were attributed even to the devil, as the <\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2015\/01\/02\/bial-da-diaou-perrero-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">Bi<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\">\u00e2<\/span><\/span>l d\u00e2 Diaou<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"> of Perrero or <\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2014\/08\/15\/pertus-del-diao-bibiana-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">Pertus del Diao<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"> in Bibiana?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1987\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1987\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/napoleone_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1987 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/napoleone_3-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"napoleone_3\" width=\"604\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1987\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Pellice river that flows towards the plain. Go down through the group of houses along the path that leads to the river Pellice\u2026 you can cross it through the bridge!<br \/>\nThere is an alternative path from the village of Bobbio Pellice that brings you here, following the course of the river along a mule track.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span>\u2026<span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">a little advice: wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and have a check with the local tourist office before going there!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!
