This area is still known as \u201cthe Great Valley of the Invincibles\u201d, because they were never caught.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2121\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2121\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2121 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout7.jpg\" alt=\"Barma d'Aout, 1508 m - Vallone degli Invincibili, Bobbio Pellice\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout7.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout7-604x403.jpg 604w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout7-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout7-825x550.jpg 825w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Barma d&#8217;Aout, 1508 m &#8211; Vallone degli Invincibili, Villar Pellice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This \u201cbarma\u201d (this term is probably of Ligurian origin, and it refers to caves and rock shelters), according to the legend, was home of some shepherd fairies who used to live here with their flocks of goats and their prosperous cows. They were very hard-working maids, who personally grazed animals and worked in milking and its subsequent processing. They were very good-hearted women and for this, since they liked the shepherds who lived nearby, they had taught them all of the tricks to get butter, cheese and ricotta cheese from milk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2122\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout8.jpg\" alt=\"barma_d_aout8\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout8.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout8-604x403.jpg 604w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout8-825x550.jpg 825w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout8-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They were very particular fairies, always dressed in a simple and practical way, unlike their sisters called \u201cthe lazy fairs\u201d, who loved to dress up in clothes with long trains and gleaming jewels.<br \/>\nThey did not fear humans and helped the poor by bringing them always good food; they liked laughing and joking with the lads &#8230; But when someone ever dared to ask for their hand in marriage, they immediately ran away laughing, smiling and graceful.<br \/>\nThe luckiest ones had also been allowed to visit their neat and clean homes, and to see all their silver and gold tools.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2123\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2123\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2123 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout6.jpg\" alt=\"A \u201cbarma\u201d is a characteristic type of cave dug in a slope with a big rock as roof\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout6.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout6-604x403.jpg 604w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout6-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout6-825x550.jpg 825w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2123\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A \u201cbarma\u201d is a characteristic type of house dug in a slope with a big rock as roof<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A painful day, unfortunately, a shepherd (embittered by the fact of being rejected by the fairy he had fallen for), rancorous climbed the rock and sneaked in the cave while the fairies were outside with their flocks to pasture. The young man knew that nothing would made the fairies suffer more than discovering the theft of their precious tools. So he filled his bag with everything he could find and fled.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2124\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout4.jpg\" alt=\"barma_d_aout4\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout4.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout4-604x403.jpg 604w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout4-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/barma_d_aout4-825x550.jpg 825w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t even imagine how the fairies felt sorry when, returning home, they saw all of their beautiful things messed up &#8230; and when they realized that the tools they were so proud of had been stolen!<br \/>\nIn that moment they decided that they would immediately go away and that they\u2019d never turn back. Before going away, however, they cried out to the shepherds who had rushed over to the sound of their screams and their cries:<br \/>\n&#8220;You stole our precious tools and we will never forgive you! We&#8217;re going to leave this beautiful valley, but you\u2019ll have to worry as well: we taught you how to get good and nutrient butter and cheese from buttermilk; these are things that are very useful to feed yourselves and your children during the long winter! Go straight to the Bess\u00e8 hamlet, where you\u2019ll be able to leave your car.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Traversing another fragment of paved road, you\u2019ll find on your left the directions towards the Vallone degli Invincibili. You\u2019ll reach Barma d\u2019Aout in more or less 2 hours walking on a mule track marked with the number 128.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi there!
