Doesn&#8217;t it remind you anything?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I went to Bracchi goldsmiths in Torre Pellice, where there is a matrix for the creation of Huguenot crosses dating back to 1848, when the family bought the store from the company Ceresole inheriting also that precious mold.<br \/>\nSince then, the owners have never stopped gathering and collecting these jewels, which are all different from each other for some small details. Many of them are originating from these Valleys and from across the Alps (Switzerland and France in particular), but some others even come from South America!<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2414\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2414\" style=\"width: 398px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2414 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci-398x600.jpg\" width=\"398\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci-398x600.jpg 398w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci-768x1159.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci-547x825.jpg 547w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci-825x1245.jpg 825w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/2_croci.jpg 1017w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2414\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The crosses on the top are made here, while the ones downwards are from South America and they are part of the store collection.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The matrix was refurbished and is still used today: inside it the metal &#8211; usually gold or silver &#8211; is melted into two separate pieces (the cross and the dove) which are then hand finished with the graver and joined together using a ring.<br \/>\nThe arms of the cross (which is also called \u201ccross of Malta\u201d or \u201ccross of Provence\u201d) are linked together by a wreath of lilies of France and on each of the tips there is a bud that is a light pearl, symbol of the Gospel light that radiates in every direction.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2415\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2415\" style=\"width: 398px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2415 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci-398x600.jpg\" width=\"398\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci-398x600.jpg 398w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci-768x1159.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci-547x825.jpg 547w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci-825x1245.jpg 825w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3_croci.jpg 1017w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2415\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The goldsmiths also owns these matrices for printing on paper (Huguenot crosses and coat of arms &#8220;Lux lucet in tenebris&#8221;).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The dove with outstretched wings represents the Holy Spirit; at the <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2016\/06\/19\/museo-valdese-torre-pellice\/\">Waldensian Museum<\/a> of Torre Pellice there is a special cross that, instead of the dove, has a small tear&#8230; It is thought that its meaning is to remember the many French Protestants, or Huguenots, killed in 1572 during the night of Saint Bartholomew.<br \/>\nThe Huguenot Cross is called this way because in the past it was the sign of recognition of the French Protestants, while today it is a symbol (together with the coat of arms \u201cLux Lucet in tenebris\u201d) of the Waldensian confession.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2426\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2426\" style=\"width: 398px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2426 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4-398x600.jpg\" width=\"398\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4-398x600.jpg 398w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4-768x1159.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4-547x825.jpg 547w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4-825x1245.jpg 825w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/croci_4.jpg 1017w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lux lucet in tenebris<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thanks to the Bracchi goldsmiths in Torre Pellice (corso Gramsci 20) for the courtesy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!
