Examples of this are <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2014\/03\/28\/791\/\">Lou Cou\u00e9nt<\/a> of Angrogna, and also <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2017\/04\/14\/2471\/\">St. Martin Parish<\/a> in Torre Pellice.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In 1628 in Villar arrived Capuchin monks who, supported by local authorities, settled here where there were no Catholics.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Very often these buildings, and those who lived there, were picked on by exasperated or simply depleted people (as it happened at the <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2013\/11\/29\/tribulet-2\/\">Convent of Luserna<\/a>, sacked in 1663 by <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2013\/09\/27\/gianavella-2\/\">Gianavello<\/a>).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2651\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1-397x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1-397x600.jpg 397w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1-768x1160.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1-546x825.jpg 546w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1-825x1246.jpg 825w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_1.jpg 1173w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\">Here, for example, in 1653 some young men, led by the local pastor Manget (or by the shepherd&#8217;s wife, since there are several versions of the facts), and, according to some, convinced by an ambiguous stranger named Villeneuve, gave fire to the convent despite the shepherds of the nearby communities had opposed. Obviously the attack on the friars represented a great scandal and the Turin court threatened to shake off all Villar Pellice, but fortunately Lords of Luserna only forced pastor Manget to leave and saved the village. According to another version, instead, Catholic troops were stuck at the door of the country from such a heavy rain that soaked all of the weapons making the rifles useless!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2652\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2-397x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2-397x600.jpg 397w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2-768x1160.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2-546x825.jpg 546w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2-825x1246.jpg 825w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/convento_villar_2.jpg 1173w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff3333;\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>How to get here:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">reach Villar Pellice through Provincial Road 161, then at the entrance to the village turn left into Martiri street, reaching Jervis square. There are disagreeing opinions on what the building that housed the convent is: some claim that it is the current Ca &#8216;Piana restaurant, but the architecture of the farmhouse that today hosts the pharmacy would seem more appropriate&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8230;the decision is up to you!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">In the meanwhile I remind you that in the square you can also visit \u201cLe magie del filo\u201d, the atelier of Monique Piston, where you can have an original Waldensian costume made (d&#8217;you remember our visit <a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2016\/02\/12\/featuring-how-is-the-waldensian-costume-made\/\">there<\/a>?!)<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everybody!
