Today I\u2019m talking you about a very special thing, which is also about Valdesina project. As you may have noticed if you are a follower of my Facebook page, in last weeks I\u2019ve been busier than usually. I\u2019ve been searching for a number of photos published on the website, I chose them, wrote the captions, created a layout and sent to the printer a series of images for a photo exhibit of this project in the context of a very interesting initiative: \u201cLe Istruzioni Militari di Giosu\u00e8 Gianavello<\/em>\u201d (The Military Instructions of Giosu\u00e8 Gianavello) at Galleria Civica \u201cF. Scroppo\u201d in Torre Pellice.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve already told you<\/a> about the Istruzioni, a set of papers written by Gianavello, containing general guidelines related to religious, moral and military principles, with tactical and strategic recommendations which helped the Waldensians, who were in exhile abroad, to go back to their homeland and to conquer again their Valleys in 1689.
\nFor the first time after more than three centuries, these important documents, that are stored in the State Archive in Torino, are available for a vast audience thanks to Janavel2017 group and the cooperation of State Archive of Torino, Centro Culturale Valdese and Torre Pellice municipality.<\/p>\n

In the spaces of the exhibition you will find a number of historical tidbits, like this document signed during the Piedmontese Easter by Carlo Emanuele II. Here Giosu\u00e8 Gianavello is banned for the first time with other 30 rebels.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a section dedicated to the depictions of this historical character: here you can see paintings, engravings, movie frames and this beautiful picture on glass.<\/p>\n

This is the scale model of a statue depicting Gianavello which actually was never erected.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, you\u2019ll find also my photo exhibit. I couldn\u2019t be prouder! In this section 25 photos tell something about the places of Gianavello and a QR code in the captions gives you the opportunity to go deeper and have more informations about the image.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want to tell you too much because I hope this tips raised your curiosity and that you couldn\u2019t wait to go and look the exhibition with your eyes. I also hope that, thanks to my stories here on the website, somebody of you became more interested about the history of our Valleys and that, when you are in front of that ancient documents, you won\u2019t see in them only faded pages, but a history with all its sides made by dignity, battles, needs and redemption.<\/p>\n
