It is told that Count Billour used to join common people in the dungeons of the castle in order to listen to the Gospel as it was preached by \u201c<a title=\"Coulege dei Barba \u2013 Angrogna\" href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2013\/08\/27\/73\/\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">barba<\/span><\/a>\u201d (the Waldensian priests) and to participate in the cults that were held in secret there.<br \/>\nThe Count&#8217;s family, however, had become suspicious, and one day some soldiers were sent to Bobbio Pellice with the task of arresting him and destroying his castle.<br \/>\nCount Billour&#8217;s sad destiny was to live imprisoned in the towers of Luserna&#8217;s castle, where he suffered from hunger, thirst, cold, and where he never got out again from.<br \/>\nThe Count&#8217;s family decided to cancel this way the shame of a heretic relative&#8230; people who didn&#8217;t follow the Catholic religion were called \u201cheretics\u201d by the Chuch of Rome, and that was the way <a title=\"Featured: Who are the Waldensians?\" href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/en\/2015\/02\/13\/featured-who-are-the-waldensians\/\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Waldensians<\/span> <\/a>were called.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_349\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-349\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Valdesina-sul-pianoro-dove-sorgeva-il-castello-del-Conte-Billour.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-349 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Valdesina-sul-pianoro-dove-sorgeva-il-castello-del-Conte-Billour.jpg\" alt=\"I'm on the ground where Count Billour\u2019s castle stood\" width=\"1000\" height=\"663\" srcset=\"https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Valdesina-sul-pianoro-dove-sorgeva-il-castello-del-Conte-Billour.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Valdesina-sul-pianoro-dove-sorgeva-il-castello-del-Conte-Billour-604x400.jpg 604w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Valdesina-sul-pianoro-dove-sorgeva-il-castello-del-Conte-Billour-768x509.jpg 768w, https:\/\/valdesina.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Valdesina-sul-pianoro-dove-sorgeva-il-castello-del-Conte-Billour-825x547.jpg 825w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-349\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I&#8217;m on the ground where Count Billour\u2019s castle stood<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>What we can see of the castle today is just some remainings on the rock that falls straight into the small stream below (known as Gourg Inau), and the Count&#8217;s inheritance is nothing but a name in a legend&#8230; that was the price to pay for not following the most popular faith&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to get here:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>along the provincial road 161, go to the town of Bobbio Pellice (Turin). Follow via Villanova for 1.5 km and you will find yourself in Borgata Cestel.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi there!
